In hindsight performance

Last week we were lucky to have a visit by up and coming band In hindsight.  The band are on tour throughout Britian performing in schools to promote the safe use of the internet and highlight the dangers of social media and cyber bullying.  The band performed a few of their own tracks, covers of Olly Murs and Ariana Grande and held a question and answer session with pupils.

Primary 7 transitions

Our lucky feeder primary schools are in the middle of undertaking a project with us here at castlebrae and @drakemusic looking into performing as a rock band. We have been busy working with Castleview primary 7s to perform on a variety of instruments including keyboard, guitar, chime bars and percussion and we hope to perform the classic hit don’t stop believing as a band in our final session. Niddrie Mill primary will undertake a similar project here in the music department in a couple of weeks. I can’t wait to hear how it sounds!

Well done Jayce

Congratulations to our higher student Jayce who has been accepted to study a rock and pop performing course at Edinburgh College. Jayce has rocked the music department during his time at Castlebrae impressing everyone with his guitar skills and very musical ears! I am sure we will see him on stage in a few years! Well done Jayce!

Senior student takes part in SCO VIBE

Congratulations to Higher student Jayce Gartland Quinn who took part in the Scottish Chamber Orchestra course during the Easter holidays. SCO VIBE is a new fusion band open to young musicians aged 11-18 living in Edinburgh. Influenced by the group members and the musical styles that they love the group composed music to reflect imaginary landscapes. The week ended with a performance last Friday afternoon. Jayce was a valued member of the band and his talent and committment was recognised by the director of the course. Jayce performed with style and amazed the audience with his guitar solo during the performance. Well done Jayce!
